Dr. Charles O'Reilly (1837-1918)

The son of James Reilly grocer Moville, Dr. O’Reilly was the first local man to practice in his home town. He received his medical education in Scotland gaining the LFPS Glasgow in 1859 and LRCP Edinburgh in 1863. His mother died 1867 aged 50 followed by his father 1871.

Dr O' Reilly married Annie McCabe in 1884 and they had a son James Michael born 1886 who qualified as a doctor in Queens Belfast 1911. Charles O’Reilly lived at Lower Main Street.

Nesbitts Medical Directory states he was still Moville Dispensary Doctor in 1912. He died in 1918 aged 82 due to “cardiac weakness”.
